Music Friday: Good Charlotte

This is the day where I get to talk about music, and recommend something to you, the reader. Well today I am talking about my favourite band, Good Charlotte.

Happy Friday.

Joel Madden
Benji Madden
Paul Thomas
Billy Martin
Dean Burtterworth

I am obsessed with this band, and have been that way for the last 9 years of my life. It sounds like how people were like with boybands in the 90s, but trust me its not like that. I listen to other bands, but I always come back to GC.

Their music has guided me through some hard times in my life, and I find their lyrics to be very relateable. That's where most bands fall down, whereas their songs may hold meaning for a specific time in your life and that's it. Good Charlotte songs are just us meaningful now, as they were when I first heard them. But that could always be because my perception of music changed as i got older.

Another huge thing of this band, are the fans. The fans are pure awesome. I have talked about them before, but I love these guys so I'll do it again. :P The Good Charlotte community is pretty awesome, which has been around for the last 7/8 years. The band actually cottoned onto this fact, a few years ago, and have been interacting with their fans through the net. The talk to fans through twitter, the chat and forums on their site, and also do video chats.

They show a real sennse of appreciating their fans, and this is something that not a lot of bands do. Other bands say, 'we wouldn't be here if it weren't for the fans', but you know they are just saying it, they don't let the fans feel it. But Good Charlotte do, I'm sure if they could find away to personally thank every fan, they would do it in a heartbeat.

Now in 2010, 14 years since Good Charlotte was formed, the guys are releasing their 5th studio album, Cardiology. It is released on November the 2nd, and the whole community is buzzing. Not to mention, the band are getting ready for tours all over the world. This is the time to check out Good Charlotte and the GCFam, because it is a good place to be right now.

So….I try to do a schedule, and apparently Youtube doesn’t like that. Braw…not.

I do have the Vlog ready and waiting, but after 4 attempts I have given up with Youtube, and will try again tomorrow. I can sense everyone is disappointed.

But, in my attempt to kinda keep my word, I am still going to recommend a website, and the vlog will be uploaded whenever I can get YouTube to behave.

So the first website is….Fearne Cotton’s website. For the uneducated, Fearne is a UK television and radio presenter. Her current projects include BBC Radio 1′s morning/afternoon show (Live Lounge), Sky One’s Must Be The Music and ITV’s Celeb Juice. She is a very busy girl, who I have grown up watching her over the last 13/14 years.

Other than being a person I kind of admire, I also really love her website. Fearne seems like a really artistic and that comes across on her website. I think that is a major highlight of this site, that it does seem to really show her personality. It’s the little unique touches that makes the site nice, like the small patterns and sketchy parts, which makes the site seem more ‘hand-made’. Which sounds stupid now I think about it.

I really love the drawing around the comment box.
The whole idea of showing personality through a site, is why I like this site so much.

Queue fangirl spazzing EVERYWHERE

All Change

Yeah, so after deciding that this place is starting to sound a little bit too whiney and such, I am forming some kind of structure for stuff.
This is my vlogs and my blogs.

I spend way too much time complaining, and after looking through a few blogs, I felt I needed some kind of consistency. So, in a bid to liven everything up, I am giving myself a schedule, or a set of challenges, even. Basically, I have the task of talking about certain topic on certain days of the week, and its done to also encourage me to look at new things, so I can talk about them.

Yeah, well...it seems like a good idea to me.

MONDAY--will be book day, where I reccommend books that I like, and talk about them.

WEDNESDAY--- Website day, I have to talk about a website (includes blogs) that I think people should look at.

FRIDAY-- Music day. Whether a song, band or album, I talk about why you should listen to it,

SOOOOOO......

Seeing as today is Monday, I have a book, I think that anyone with an intrest in Art or Design should read.

Art And Text
It really is a great book, with lots of great images of typography. I have loved typography since I was little, and this book just shows why I love it. The whole point of the book, from where I am standing, is to show that typography is more than just letters that physically spell out something.

It shows conceptual art, where the lettering, is just one part of the piece. There are installations, paintings, and lots more. I really like the variety of work on show. But the thing I like most about the book, is that unlike most art books, the work on show helps a person feel like they can achieve something extra out of typography. That with a liitle imagination, writing can be much more objective, and even more direct. But then, that's what I take from the book. As with all art, it is all in how someone precieves the work.

After much whinging, I managed to get all my Wordpress blogs over here. But it's still not really what I wanted.

I am so fussy. If anyone knows how to feed blogs from wordpress, so they auto-post over here, I would be greatful for the help. The two websites don't seem to be too compatible, which is trez annoying, to be honest.

Ahhh well....get ready blogger, you are being updated whether you like it or not.

Really stoaked

I have a lot of painting coming up, all projects are my own and are for gifts for my friends. But I am so excited about it.

The only one I can talk about is Christmas cards. Sick of having to buy cards, or getting 'handycraft' cards, I decided that this year I am going to make handmade cards. It is going to be painted scenes, and festive colours mostly. Just something a little different.

It feels really personal if someone has done that. I also have a few winter photographs from last year I may use. Like of photos of the glen, like nice snowy pictures. Actually never been this excited about christmas cards, actually never been so excited about christmas so early. But I can't help it.

I have been stuck in this almighty rut all summer, and now I have the motivation to do something, I can't help but get excited. Whoooo!

friends forever

I probably haven't done anything that would warrant me needing a relaxing day, I am still going to have one.

Feel very satisfied right now with the friendships I have. Friends are some of the most important people in someone's life. They motivate you, can make you laugh, make you cry, make you feel good about yourself, and most of all, they make you feel supported. As people grow older, friendships change, but you know that even without contact, your friend still 'has your back'.

Unlike family, you can chose your friends, and that is what makes them so special. You spend time with people you 'click' with. And that makes you happy.

And with the magic of the internet, person can contact more people who have similar personalities to them. Most of my online friends, I have met through Good Charlotte, either from websites or even from seeing GC live. These are girls who know me better than some of my real life friends.

But whether school, college, work or websites, its the people who we take with us on our life journey that really matter.

Mates come and go, true friends are there for life.

umm.....trying to thing of a post which isn't me fangirling everywhere

Photography. Best Good Charlotte pictures. Because.....I cannot get anything else in my head.
Its their fault for making me see them planning a EU tour and figuring out they have a 2/3 week gap with no UK dates announced yet.
Blame Good Charlotte.

Over photoshopped to the point they all look weird.

Relocation, Relocation, Relocation

So if you have talked to me at all reccently, you'd know I've been stuck in a rut.
Well, I have been flat hunting. The usual places around me. Then I had the rather ubsurd (and probably never going to happen) idea of moving to New York.

Why? It is known for its influence on art, and the huge art and music scene it has. And I have a few interweb friends, I 'd love to meet and have them become IRL friends. Sounds silly, but meeting all my internet friends is a massive ambition of mine, cause they have been a big support to me over the years, and I want to personally thank them.

Sue Says: Urban Art

Urban art is a newly added tag to what used to be known as street art, graffiti and the like. It is now common for the stylings to be called Urban, seeing as the style has worked its way into exhibitions and influence more traditional artists. I have been looking at a lot of this style, and I like the precision of it all.

Images, like the one above, is created by using stencils to get the desired effect. This is something that is very consuming and takes a lot of paitence and practice. One of the best practicioners of this art is, Brittish geurilla-artist, Banksy. First he was a nuisence, spray painting on walls with no warning. Banksy is annonymous, because what he does, no matter how much someone pays for it, is still an act of vandilism. So noone knows what he looks like, which for an artist is rare. He has a spokesperson who does all his dealings on his behalf.

Although Banky still deals with the same political ideals he always has, the publics reaction to him has changed. Once a scourged member of society, now he is a much loved figure in the art world. Like desipite it still being vandilism, it is accepted.

This change has lead to the graffiti style been used more regular within all branches of art. It has become attatched to music, with it being used within the punk rock and hip hop areas, which it was before, its just a lot more widespread.
